The National Trust’s Wimpole Estate’s festive light trail sees the popular estate will be transformed into a winter paradise this Christmas, with an illuminated walk set to enchant visitors.

Sony Music’s Christmas at Wimpole returns for its fifth year and promises more than a million twinkling lights, seasonal sounds and stunning new illuminated light trail installations.

By day, the historic Mansion House will be decked out in festive splendour, offering visitors the chance to enjoy Christmas carols, delicious food and drink.

However, it’s the after-dark experience that truly steals the show.

Wimpole Estate festive light trail: 28 November 2025 until 1 January 2026
Admission: Limited capacity with timed entry, early booking advised.

Immerse yourself in a world of wonder

That’s when guests can immerse themselves in a world of wonder as they wander through the estate.

Visitors can look forward to exciting new features for 2025, including a breathtaking Christmas Cathedral, a shimmering Sea of Light, and enchanting crocus-inspired displays.

These magical highlights join much-loved favourites, creating an immersive journey through Wimpole’s historic parkland, all set to a heartwarming soundtrack of festive classics.

Along the illuminated trail, guests will encounter dazzling spectacles, from a neon tree that shifts through every colour, to playful robins that rock and a rainbow-lit pathway.

A glowing tunnel offers the perfect photo opportunity, while twinkling lights ripple across the landscape, filling the air with Christmas enchantment.

Keep an eye out too because lucky visitors may even spot Father Christmas, bringing an extra sparkle of joy for younger guests.

No festive outing would be complete without indulgent seasonal treats, and Christmas at Wimpole offers a tempting array from hand-picked street food vendors.

Whether it’s a spiced winter warmer, a rich hot chocolate, or the perfect toasted marshmallow, there’s plenty to enjoy while soaking up the glittering surroundings.

However, the team at Christmas.co.uk would recommend you take your own snacks or a picnic to help keep down the costs of what could be an expensive family outing.

Also, we know from experience that festive light trails can be very busy – even with selected time slots – so it might be worth going early to look around the hall and home farm.

This is also a great incentive/bribe to get youngsters enthusiastic about visiting a stately home – they might think they are boring but none of them are – with the promise of a stunning light festival to enjoy afterwards.

There’s limited capacity for the event and with timed access, organisers say early booking is advisable.

Created by award-winning, internationally acclaimed light-trail producers, Christmas at Wimpole has become a firm favourite and an unmissable event in the UK’s festive calendar.
