A long tradition of Christmas cheer

Pic of Manchester Christmas market stalls and rides The Manchester Christmas market has a long history of bringing joy and magic to the city centre. It started in 1998 when the first-ever Christmas market took place in St Ann’s Square. Since then, it has grown to nine sites that have more than 225 stalls, including the Corn Exchange, Piccadilly Gardens, Cathedral Gardens, Exchange Street, St Ann’s Square, Market Street, New Cathedral Street, Exchange Square and King Street.

The market celebrates its 26th year in 2024. The market will run from:

Friday 8th November 2024 – Sunday 22nd December 2024

Cathedral Gardens will open until 2nd January 2025 (except for Christmas day) for the ice rink.

And after last year’s successful debut of the Manchester Christmas Parade, it will return this year on Sunday 8th December 2024 (timings to be announced). Visitors will find that it is bigger and better this year too with floats, bands, dancers and characters.
